BACKGROUND:
This project supports the City Council's strategic goal of investing in and maintaining high-quality assets by improving the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the City's infrastructure. Intersection improvements reduce congestion, enhance mobility for all users, improve emergency response access, and help ensure the City’s intersections can accommodate future growth while preserving the City's infrastructure investment.
In May 2023, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2023-077, authorizing the City's application to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) 2023 Transportation Alternatives Program for funding the construction of a pedestrian crosswalk. TxDOT subsequently approved the City's application, allowing the project to advance into the design phase.
On January 23, 2024, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2024-014, authorizing the execution of a professional services agreement with Kimley-Horn for the design of intersection improvements at the Valley View Lane and Mercer Parkway intersection in the amount of $101,300.
On May 12, 2026, the City received bids for the construction of this project. American Traffic Construction, LLC, submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid meeting all City requirements in the amount of $226,104.
On June 22, 2026, the City received TxDOT authorization to proceed with the construction phase of the project.
DISCUSSION:
Resolution No. 2026-100 will authorize an agreement with American Traffic Construction, LLC, for the construction of the Valley View Lane and Mercer Parkway intersection improvements for an amount of $226,104.
