Body
BACKGROUND:
The rose gardens in Gussie Field Watterworth Park are undergoing renovations which include the creation of an area that is a suitable venue for weddings and parties. The renovation is a three phase project. Phase I includes removal of some of the EarthKind Trial roses, irrigation modifications, electrical installation, planting a new collection of roses, creation of a "Garden Room," installation of natural cedar fences and tee pees for rose support, and planting a French rose collection. Phase I is complete except for planting of the French roses which have been delayed by USDA quarantine.

Phase II is being completed as part of winter work projects by the Parks Division and includes pavestone borders, water features, seating, and arches to train the roses. The water features are the fountains that will be purchased with the Woman's Club donation.

Phase III will be completed as part of winter work projects next year and will include lighting for the "Garden Room" and for the rose garden.

DISCUSSION:

They have chosen to donate the funds to purchase three fountains for the rose garden. The three fountains will match the existing fountain which was previously donated by the Farmers Branch Woman's Club. Upon acceptance of the donation, and the installation of the fountains by the City, the water feature portion of the rose garden renovations will be complete.
