Consider Board and Commission appointments and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
City Administration accepts applications from anyone wishing to serve on a Board or Commission. Once a background check has been completed, submitted applications are kept on file for one year.
As vacancies arise, City Council members may make appointments to fill any open positions(s) on a Board or Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The following Board/Commission currently has vacancies:
Family Advisory Board - There are two vacancies on the Family Advisory Board for two (2) youth positions. The youth positions shall be filled by a child older than twelve (12) years of age but who has not completed the 12th grade of high school (or its equivalent if the child is home schooled). No applications have been received for the youth positions.
Regional Transportation Council (RTC) - The Cities of Carrollton and Farmers Branch share a seat on the RTC. Currently, City of Carrollton Mayor Matthew Marchant serves as the primary representative; Council Member Harold Froehlich serves as the alternate. Both wish to serve an additional term.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends an individual that is a Farmers Branch resident, a child older than twelve (12) years of age but who has not completed the 12th grade of high school (or its equivalent if the child is home schooled), and who meets any other additional requirements to a board/commission be appointed.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to appoint a resident to fill the vacancies on the Family Advisory Board, and to appoint a primary representative and alternate representative to serve on the RTC.
2) Motion to seek additional applications for vacancies on the Family Advisory Board.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
