Title
Consider accepting the donation of a sculpture for the Butterfly Garden at the Farmers Branch Historical Park and take appropriate action.

Body
BACKGROUND:
There has long been a desire to have art in public places in Farmers Branch.  Art, primarily in the form of statuary, is currently located at Liberty Plaza, the Senior Center, and the Recreation Center.   Opportunities for additional art throughout the City are sought and welcomed.

DISCUSSION:
An anonymous donor has approached the City about donating a sculpture of a Monarch Butterfly (the Texas State Insect) that will also include a leaf of Milkweed (which Monarch Butterflies need to survive) and a caterpillar to be located within the Butterfly Garden at the Historical Park.  This excellent opportunity for additional art will add both aesthetic and interpretive value to the park.  The estimated value of this great donation is $3,500.

In keeping with the donor's desire to remain anonymous the normal thank you letter is not attached to this agenda item.  The donor will be thanked appropriately.

City Administration recommends accepting the donation of a sculpture for the Butterfly Garden.
