BACKGROUND:
As vacancies arise, City Council members may make appointments to fill any open positions on a Board or Commission.
City Administration accepts application forms from anyone wishing to serve on a Board or Commission. Applications are kept on file for one year.
DISCUSSION:
Family Advisory Board - Three are currently three vacancies on the Family Advisory Board. One adult position (due to the resignation of Sally Derrick) and two vacancies which shall be filled by a child older than twelve (12) years of age but who has not yet completed the 12th grade of high school (or its equivalent if the child is home schooled).
Marcia Ferguson has submitted an application to serve on the Board. No applications have been received for the youth vacancies.
Planning and Zoning Commission - There is one vacancy due to the resignation of Debbie King. Applications have been submitted by the following:

Sergio De Los Santos
Bruce Woody
Jan Woody
Mary Lozano
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends an individual that is a Farmers Branch resident, a registered voter (excluding the youth members wishing to serve on the Family Advisory Board), and who meet any additional requirements to a board/commission be appointed.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to appoint a resident(s) to the Family Advisory Board and/or Planning and Zoning Commission.
2) Motion to seek additional applications for positions on the Family Advisory Board and/or Planning and Zoning Commission.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
