Body

REQUESTOR:

Parks and Recreation Department

BACKGROUND:

The HVAC systems at several City facilities, including the Animal Adoption Center (1 unit), Historical Park (11 units), Justice Center (7 units), Senlac Service Center (8 units), and The Branch Connection (4 units), have exceeded their expected lifespan. These units are increasingly prone to mechanical failure, require frequent maintenance, and pose a risk of unexpected breakdowns that could disrupt City services. Proactively replacing the units at this time will help avoid escalating repair costs, reduce energy inefficiencies, and ensure reliable heating and cooling for staff, residents, and visitors.

DISCUSSION:

The city has engaged ACIS, Inc. to replace the HVAC systems in the identified facilities. The proposed contract totals $767,008.17 and includes the removal of existing units, installation of new equipment, and all necessary ancillary work to ensure system reliability and compliance with current standards. This investment represents a cost-effective, long-term solution that will enhance energy efficiency, minimize future maintenance expenses, and improve overall comfort and air quality in these high-use public facilities.
