Title

Discuss water utility rates and conservation strategies

Body

BACKGROUND:

Water Conservation is one of ten goals listed in the Sustainability Plan. The Sustainability Committee has prioritized water conservation since its re-establishment in 2021. Most notably, the committee recommended the creation of the water conservation rebate program and established a subcommittee on water conservation. The committee has also provided input to Public Works staff on updates to the Water Conservation Plan.

Updated water and sewer rates became effective in November 2025, marking the first rate increase in ten years. There is increased opportunity for water conservation efforts to help save residents on their bills that may be discussed by the Sustainability Committee and members of City Staff.
