Consider approving Resolution No. 2024-078 canvassing and declaring the election results of the May 4, 2024, General Election for Councilmembers District 3 and District 5, issue Certificates of Election; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Farmers Branch held a General Election on May 4, 2024, to elect a member of the City Council for District 3 and District 5. Resolution No. 2024-078 canvasses the election results. The candidates receiving a majority votes are as follows:
District 3, City Councilmember: David Reid, running unopposed
District 5, City Councilmember: Roger Neal received 52.91% of the votes cast
Having run unopposed for District 3, David Reid has been declared duly elected City Councilmember for District 3.
Having received a majority of the votes cast, 52.91%, Roger Neal has been declared to be duly elected as City Councilmember for District 5.

POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2024-078 as presented.
