BACKGROUND:
At the May 12, 2026, City Council meeting, Council discussed adding an additional voting location on the west side of the City to support voter turnout and maintain consistent polling locations at each election, reducing confusion. To prepare for the upcoming May 2027 City election, the City will present additional polling location options.
The Farmers Branch Manske Library serves as the City’s primary polling location for both Early Voting and Election Day and is currently the only polling location included under the City’s election services contract with Dallas County Elections. Other polling locations within Farmers Branch are provided through separate agreements between Dallas County Elections and school districts or educational institutions, including Dallas College and CFBISD.
DISCUSSION:
The following additional polling locations were discussed at the May 12, 2026, Council meeting for Council consideration:
Keenan Service Center, 13333 Davis Road
ADA accessible, limited parking for voters, small space dedicated inside building for voting and equipment
Senlac Service Center, 13333 Senlac Road
ADA accessible, largest space inside building for voting and equipment, adequate parking for Election staff and voters
Fire Administration Building, 13333 Hutton
ADA accessible, adequate parking provided, voter entrance would be at back entrance of building, additional signage would be needed; Training Room is used heavily for outside training, wellness exams, and operational use with other cities
Should a private business be used as a City voting site, facility use fees would be incurred by the City. For City-owned buildings, no additional facility use fee is charged.
Staff seeks Council direction on adding a polling location on the west side of the City for the May 2027 election.
