BACKGROUND:
The Citywide Master Thoroughfare Plan is an important tool in the planning and implementation of improvements to meet the City's transportation needs. Specifically, it sets forth the street and right-of-way requirements for the major streets throughout the City based on development and redevelopment through platting, site-plan review, and rezoning.
Ordinance No. 2851, adopted by the City Council on February 20, 2006, established the Citywide Master Thoroughfare Plan. The Ordinance included the provision that the thoroughfare plan expire in five years. The proposed ordinance (Ordinance No. 3249) removes this provision and re-adopts the Thoroughfare Plan. No significant changes are being proposed to the actual Master Thoroughfare Map (Exhibit A).
The current and future thoroughfare needs of the City are provided for within proposed Ordinance 3249 re-adopting the Citywide Master Thoroughfare Plan.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Ordinance No. 3249 re-adopting the Citywide Master Thoroughfare Plan.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to adopt Ordinance No. 3249 re-adopting the Citywide Master Thoroughfare Plan.
2) Motion to deny Ordinance No. 3249 re-adopting the Citywide Master Thoroughfare Plan.
3) Motion to modify Ordinance No. 3249 to meet the needs of the Commission.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
