Title

Receive an update regarding Mercer Park in the Mercer Crossing Subdivision.

Body

REQUESTOR:

Councilman David Reid

BACKGROUND:

In December 2024, staff provided an update to the City Council regarding Mercer Park and its proposed development phases. At that meeting, staff were directed to research the cost of developing the park in a single phase.

DISCUSSION:

Since then, staff have consulted with the design and parks consultant to obtain updated cost projections for developing the remaining park amenities and site work in a single comprehensive phase. During this period, staff also oversaw the installation of landscaping, including trees and sod, on the south portion of the property.

As part of this study session, staff will present information on the status of Mercer Park and the revised cost projections for its development as a single, unphased project. Our findings suggest that it is feasible to complete the development of the entire site in one phase; however, this will require additional funding.

Parks and Recreation Staff will provide an update on the progress of Mercer Park in the Mercer Crossing Subdivision on the west side of Farmers Branch.

DISTRICT:
