Consider providing a recommendation to the City Council for the adoption of the Active Transportation Plan; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The Sustainability Plan has a goal to reduce single occupancy vehicle (SOV) trips in order to lessen traffic congestion and air pollution. On June 6, 2023, the City Council approved a resolution to allow staff to enter a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for the development of an Active Transportation Plan. The Active Transportation Plan addresses mobility outside the use of a vehicle and will provide a list of infrastructure improvements to make walking and cycling convenient and safe throughout the city. This plan will be an update to the 2015 Trail Master Plan.
The Sustainability Committee has provided community input throughout 2024 on the development of the plan. At the April 2025 meeting, the committee received an update on the plan.
The Sustainability Committee will discuss if they wish to recommend that the City Council adopt the Active Transportation Plan.
ACTIONS:
1. Motion to provide a recommendation from the Sustainability Committee that the City Council adopt the Active Transportation Plan
2. Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action
