BACKGROUND:

This item was tabled from the May 20, 2025, City Council meeting.

 

Chapter 2256 of the Texas Government Code requires that each Texas municipality annually review its Investment Policy and Strategies. 

 

The following are some of the requirements of what the written policy must include:

                     Emphasize the safety of principal and liquidity (suitability, marketability, diversification, and yield);

                     Address investment diversification yield, maturity, and the quality and capability of investment management; and

                     Include authorized investments, maximum maturity, market price monitoring, and settlement.

 

This policy has been reviewed by Hilltop Securities Asset Management, LLC, which will coordinate investment management from this point forward, bringing its additional expertise to our portfolio and cash flow management.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Maximize investment return within Investment Policy requirements.

POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:

1.                     I move to approve Resolution No. 2025-069 as presented.

2.                     I move to approve Resolution No. 2025-069 with modifications.

3.                     I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
