Receive recommendation from the Redistricting Commission regarding review of proposed Redistricting Maps 7, 8 and 9 using the checklist criteria, and consider adopting Ordinance No. 3767 establishing City Council Districts in accordance with Section 7.10 of the City Charter; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
On July 26, 2022, the Redistricting Commission presented their recommendation to the City Council presenting Map No. 7 as the Commission's preferred option, and Map No. 4 as their secondary option. Commission Chair Bronson Blackson met with each Council Member to review the recommended maps and based on suggestions from Council, Map 8 was created. A proposed Map 9 was also presented at this meeting by Council Member Jackson to be considered for review.
On August 16, 2022, the City Council conducted a public hearing to receive public comment on proposed Redistricting Maps 7, 8, and 9. The City Council reconvened the Commission and requested the Commission review and consider proposed Redistricting Maps 8 and 9, in relation to proposed Redistricting Map No. 7.
On September 14, 2022, the Commission reconvened and held a meeting at the request of the City Council to review proposed Redistricting Maps 8 and 9 in relation to Map No. 7. After considering all maps, the Commission maintained its recommendation of Map No. 7 and voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council the adoption of Redistricting Map No. 7.
At the October 25, 2022 City Council meeting, the Council discussed the scorecard used by the Commission in the creation and review of redistricting maps to determine if they met the appropriate criteria established by the City Charter. The City Council requested the Commission review maps 8 and 9 applying the scorecard criteria in relation to Map 7 to determine if they met the appropriate standards.
