Consider approving Resolution No. 2024-179 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase and installation of furniture with Wilson Bauhaus Interiors at the Justice Center through the Omnia Partners Cooperative purchasing program in an amount not to exceed $250,342.49; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:

The Justice Center currently houses the Farmers Branch Police Department, Detention Center, and Municipal Court. A comprehensive remodel of the Police Department is underway, with completion scheduled for the summer of 2025. As part of this renovation, new office furniture will be purchased and installed to replace outdated pieces. Salvageable furniture from the existing offices has been repurposed in other city departments or auctioned off.

 

DISCUSSION:

EPT Commercial, the owner’s representative overseeing the project, solicited bids from three companies: FMG Furniture, Wilson Bauhaus Interiors, and GL Seaman. After a thorough review of the proposals, Wilson Bauhaus Interiors was selected as the vendor offering the best overall value. The company is part of the Omnia Partners Cooperative purchasing program, which allows for cost-effective procurement.

This purchase will be funded by a federal grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). According to U.S. Department of Treasury guidelines, ARPA funds must be used for costs contracted by December 31, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted Financial Impact of $250,342.40 using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
