Presentation of a Proclamation to Meals on Wheels honoring the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program.
Body
REQUESTOR:
Mayor Terry Lynne
INTRODUCTION BY THE MAYOR:
It is my honor and privilege to present Meals on Wheels with a proclamation, honoring the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program.
This proclamation recognizes and honors the vital contributions of Meals on Wheels, whose dedicated efforts support the health, safety, and well-being of seniors in our community. Through the delivery of nutritious meals, regular wellness checks, and meaningful social connections, Meals on Wheels helps older adults maintain their independence and continue living safely in their own homes. Their work not only addresses food insecurity among seniors but also strengthens community bonds and enhances the quality of life for some of our most vulnerable residents.
BACKGROUND:
For over 50 years, Meals on Wheels has provided nutritious meals and social connections to seniors. These services help older adults maintain their health, independence, and safety while living at home. Meals on Wheels is supported largely by volunteers who deliver essential services to seniors and individuals with disabilities and have continued to serve communities reliably during economic challenges, disasters, and emergencies as the senior population continues to grow.
