INTRODUCTION BY THE MAYOR:
On behalf of the City of Farmers Branch City Council, I am pleased to recognize and present this ceremonial item to the Farmers Branch Police Department for their outstanding achievement in reaccreditation through the Texas Police Chiefs Association's Best Practices program. Since first becoming accredited in 2009, just two years after the program's inception, the department has upheld a strong commitment to excellence. They have successfully completed four additional on-site evaluations, continuing to meet the highest standards in law enforcement. This commitment to upholding Best Practices in policing serves as an outstanding example of leadership and dedication to the safety and well-being of our community.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) Accreditation Program is a voluntary process that assists Texas police agencies in demonstrating compliance with 170 established best practices. These standards aim to enhance service delivery, reduce risks, and protect individual rights. They cover various aspects of law enforcement operations, including agency directives, personnel qualifications, internal investigations, use of force protocols, and training requirements. Achieving accreditation involves a comprehensive evaluation process, including extensive documentation reviews and on-site assessments. Agencies must also submit annual reports to maintain their accredited status and demonstrate ongoing compliance.
