BACKGROUND:
The City of Farmers Branch has a water conservation plan and a drought contingency plan, as required by the Texas Water Code.  The objectives of a water conservation plan are to reduce water consumption and improve the efficiency in the use of water.  The objective of a drought contingency plan is to conserve the available water supply in times of drought and emergency.
 
DISCUSSION:
Texas Water Code further requires that retail public water suppliers with more than 3,300 connections develop and submit an updated and revised water conservation plan to the Texas Water Development Board every five years.  The plan is based on specific targets and goals developed by the City.  
 
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approval of Resolution No. 2014-031 adopting an updated and revised water conservation plan.
 
ACTIONS:
1)      Motion to approve Resolution No. 2014-031 adopting a water conservation plan.
2)      Motion to deny Resolution No. 2014-031 adopting a water conservation plan.     
3)      Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4)      Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
