BACKGROUND:
The City Jail requires additional camera coverage to improve safety and operational oversight. Installing new cameras and related equipment that will integrate with the City’s existing video system to provide clearer images and expanded visibility. A sole-source certification was submitted by the vendor, confirming that they are the only provider authorized and capable of supporting, expanding, or servicing the City’s current security configuration due to specialized expertise and unique system requirements.
DISCUSSION:
This project adds new cameras in key areas of the City Jail to enhance monitoring and ensure consistent coverage. The purchase will be made through the State’s DIR Cooperative Purchasing Program, which provides pre-bid, compliant pricing. In addition to DIR pricing, the vendor has provided a sole-source justification confirming that its equipment and services are uniquely compatible with the City’s established video management platform. This purchase falls within the City Manager’s $50,000 approval limit; staff is bringing it to Council for financial transparency due to its proximity to that threshold and the sole source designation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding, not to exceed $49,990, was approved as part of the approved FY 2025-26 budget.
