Title
Consider approving Resolution No. 2026-020 reaffirming the City’s authorization of the City’s brush recycling services with The Organic Recycler in the amount of $65,000; and take appropriate action.
Body
REQUESTOR:
Public Works Department
BACKGROUND:
To reduce the amount of space consumed at Camelot Landfill, the City diverts clean brush to a wood waste processing facility. This best management practice helps extend the overall life of the landfill. The processing facility converts the vegetation into compost and mulch.
The Solid Waste Division solicited three bids for brush-material recycling services. The Organic Recycler submitted the lowest bid that meets all requirements outlined in the bid specifications.
DISCUSSION:
Reaffirming the agreement with The Organic Recycler will allow the City to divert organic waste from the landfill through safe composting practices, extending landfill life, reducing environmental impact, and advancing the City’s long-term sustainability and waste-reduction goals.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted amount of $65,000 approved in the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Solid Waste operating budget.
DISTRICT:
Citywide
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2026-020 as presented.
2. I move to approve Resolution No. 2026-020, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
