Consider approving Resolution No. 2013-043 awarding a bid and authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with The Tennis Court Company for construction of the Don Showman Skate Park concrete pad and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Don Showman Skate Park was installed at the Community Recreation Center in 2011 and is enjoyed by skaters of all ages. The skate park has to be relocated to accommodate the new aquatic facility. The skate park will be relocated west of the main entrance to the Community Recreation Center, adjacent to the football field.
DISCUSSION:
Since its creation the skate park has been well utilized and is now an integral part of the recreational opportunities offered by the City. The new aquatic facility will be larger than the current pool and will include the current skate park location. Before the aquatic facility construction can begin the skate park must be relocated. The new location for the skate park will be west of the Community Recreation Center on what was the tee ball field. Over the past several years the tee ball field was seldom used by the baseball association.
The project was advertised, and bids were opened on July 2, 2013. Six bids were received, all meeting specifications. The lowest most qualified bid was submitted by The Tennis Court Company. Funds are available to move the skate park. The project is scheduled to be complete in thirty calendar days after the contractor gets notice to proceed.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2013-043 awarding the Don Showman Skate Park Concrete Pad Construction to The Tennis Court Company in the amount of $ 130,547.75 for the construction of the concrete pad for the skate park.
