BACKGROUND:
At the request of residents, City Administration conducted a field review and determined that vehicles parked on the inside of the curve connecting Wilmington Drive with Mount View Drive is restricting visibility and maneuverability of traffic, resulting in a traffic safety hazard. Traffic through this area is restricted as vehicles are parking along both sides of the street and crowding the intersection. In addition to the traffic safety, school buses are having difficulty maneuvering the curve and sight visibility is restricted. City Administration and the Police Department concur that a "No Parking" zone is necessary to improve the safety and visibility.

DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Director, in order to increase the safety of the movement of traffic along the public thoroughfares of the City of Farmers Branch, is recommending the establishment of "No Parking" zones on portions of Mount View Drive and Wilmington Drive, along the inside curve of the intersection where the two streets intersect.

The proposed ordinance will improve the safety, improve the visibility, and allow traffic to flow without the current restriction. When City Administration verbally notified the two adjacent residents, they expressed their support and confirmed the congestion was a hazard at certain times of the day. The two adjacent addresses are 2719 Mount View Drive and 12707 Wilmington Drive.
