Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3256 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 6, Section 82-95, amending No Parking Zones on portions of Golfing Green Drive and Dennis Lane; and repealing Ordinance No. 3168, and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
On January 21, 2014 City Administration outlined traffic calming devises that will reduce speed and create a safe crossing for pedestrians along Golfing Green Drive at the Brookhaven Country Club Tennis Center. As part of the installation of the traffic calming devices a parking prohibition ordinance would need to be enacted to increase safety.
Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and School have requested parking prohibition along Dennis Lane north of its intersection at Longmeade Drive. The parking prohibition will improve visibility of students and other pedestrians crossing Dennis Lane from Mary Immaculate Church and School.
Ordinance No. 3168 was adopted to prohibit parking on portions of Golfing Green Drive between Webb Chapel Road and Brookhaven Club Drive. With the removal of traffic calming devices within that area this Ordinance is no longer necessary.
DISCUSSION:
City Council directed City Administration to install traffic calming improvements along Golfing Green (north of Brookhaven Club Drive), adjacent to the Brookhaven Country Club Tennis Center to provide a safe crossing for pedestrians. The City will install no parking signs on both sides of Golfing Green within the area of the traffic calming improvements as part of the overall project.
City Administration finds it in the public's interest and safety to install no parking signs along the east side of Dennis Lane, north of Longmeade Drive, adjacent to Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and School. This will provide greater sight distance for motorists exiting the church and school property which will increase pedestrian safety.
