Consider approving Resolution No. 2014-017 awarding a unit price contract for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Annual Concrete Repair Project to Jim Bowman Construction Company, LP, and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department requested bids for the 2013-2014 Annual Concrete Repair Project. The bid is prepared by City Administration based on estimated quantities and is awarded on a unit price basis. Three streets have been identified (Valwood Parkway, Medical Parkway and Oakbrook Parkway) for repairs with this project. Funds in the amount of $775,000 are available in the Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Public Works operating budget.
DISCUSSION:
Three bids were received and opened on February 18, 2014. The lowest base bid was received from Jim Bowman Construction Company, LP in the amount of $655,801. All bids met specifications. Jim Bowman Construction Company, LP has adequate qualifications and has done similar work for the City on previous projects. This contract is for a one year period with a renewal option for two additional one year periods, if agreeable by both parties.
This item is consistent with Core Value No. 5 providing functional, sustainable, and well maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2014-017 awarding a unit price contract for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Annual Concrete Repair Project to Jim Bowman Construction Company, LP.
