BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department negotiated a cooperative purchasing contract utilizing The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract pricing for sanitary sewer manhole rehabilitation at various locations. The proposed contract was prepared using estimated quantities and will be awarded on a unit price basis. Funds in the amount of $104,000 are available in the Utilities Non-bond Capital Improvement Program for sanitary sewer main rehabilitation.
The proposed contract includes rehabilitating approximately 18 manholes or approximately 2,548 square feet of manhole surface. The rehabilitation includes cementitious repairs, polyurethane coatings, and new manhole frames and covers where needed.
Rehabilitating sanitary sewer manholes is necessary to prevent sewer blockages, prevent inflow and infiltration, and to maintain access points for preventive maintenance.
DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Department negotiated a discounted cooperative purchasing contract with Fuquay, Inc. for sanitary sewer manhole rehabilitation in the amount of $103,394. City Administration has checked the references and visited several construction sites of Fuquay, Inc. and found them to be satisfactory.
This item is consistent with Core Value No. 5 providing functional, sustainable, and well maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2014-018 awarding a contract to Fuquay, Inc. through The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract # 354-10 for sanitary sewer manhole rehabilitation.
