Consider approving Resolution No. 2014-020 adopting the City's 2014 Strategic Plan and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
In 2007, City Council and City Administration engaged in the first City Council Planning Retreat that resulted in the creation of a strategic planning process in which ten core values were established to serve as a guide to accomplishing the City's mission. Since that time, the City Council conducts an annual retreat to develop specific goals that will enable the City to successfully accomplish each of the ten Core Values. These Core Values and their accompanying goals are what make up the City's Strategic Plan and therefore, determine what will be accomplished in the coming year. Once these goals are established, they become the guide for departmental projects and the framework for the budgeting process.
DISCUSSION:
On January 31, the City Council and City Administration came together for the 2014 City Council Planning Retreat. As a result of this meeting, the attached goals were established and placed in the 2014 Strategic Plan.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2014-020 adopting the 2014 Strategic Plan.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to approve Resolution No. 2014-020 adopting the City's 2014 Strategic Plan.
2) Motion to deny Resolution No. 2014-020 adopting the City's 2014 Strategic Plan.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
