Consider Board and Commission appointments and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
City Administration accepts applications from anyone wishing to serve on a Board or Commission. Those are kept on file for one year.
As vacancies arise, City Council members may make appointments to fill any open positions on a Board or Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The following Boards/Commissions currently have vacancies:
Family Advisory Board - There are three vacancies on the Family Advisory Board for one (1) adult position and two (2) youth positions. The youth positions shall be filled by a child older than twelve (12) years of age but who has not completed the 12th grade of high school (or its equivalent if the child is home schooled.) No applications have been received for the youth vacancies. The following resident submitted an application for the adult vacancy:

Senior Advisory Board - There is one vacancy on the Senior Advisory Board for an Alternate position. The following resident submitted an application for the vacancy:
George Neil Thomas
Valwood Improvement Authority - The terms for Gary D. Greer and Michael Fitzpatrick are expiring and both would like to serve another term.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends an individual that is a Farmers Branch resident, a registered voter (excluding the youth members wishing to serve on the Family Advisory Board), and who meet any additional requirements to a board/commission be appointed.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to appoint an individual to fill the vacancies on the Family Advisory Board, Senior Advisory Board and/or Valwood Improvement Authority.
2) Motion to seek additional applications for vacancies on the Family Advisory Board, Senior Advisory Board and/or Valwood Improvement Authority.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
