BACKGROUND:
In February 2014, the Farmers Branch Fire and Life Safety Excellence Award was created to recognize a Farmers Branch building engineer who exemplifies the highest commitment to the protection of life and property by ensuring a safe work environment for citizens and emergency responders.

The building engineer is often the key liaison to the fire department in the event of building evacuations, annual fire prevention inspection, medical emergency, and more importantly, during building construction and remodel projects.

An award nomination committee was selected, comprised of chief officers, to review an engineer's past performance. Six nominees for this award were submitted to the awards nomination committee. Each nomination was well deserving of this award, as they all exemplified the skills and outstanding collaborative cohesiveness with city officials and fire prevention personnel.

The Farmers Branch Fire Department is very proud to announce the recipient for the 2014 "Fire and Life Safety Excellence Award" is Mr. Dwayne Bratton.

Dwayne Bratton, Chief Building Engineer for JP Morgan International Plaza I and II, located at 14201 and 14221 Dallas Parkway. Mr. Bratton has been in the industry for 30 years, and participates in multiple trade organizations including BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), where he earned his Systems Maintenance Administrator certification. In 2005, Dwayne was instrumental in winning "The Best Corporate Facility" in Dallas, awarded by BOMA. He has made significant reductions of engineering costs for the JP Morgan facility by researching and implementing technological modifications to increase efficiency to base building HVAC systems utilizing water regulation to the condenser water systems and base building self contained air handlers.
