Title
Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3282 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 5, Section 82-73, specifying the placement of three new stop signs (William Dodson Parkway at City Hall Plaza, Chatsworth Drive at Mount Castle Drive, and Colchester Drive at Mount Castle Drive) and take appropriate action.

Body
BACKGROUND:
In 2010 the extension of Bill Moses Parkway through the City Hall Plaza to William Dodson Parkway was completed, creating a "T" intersection at William Dodson Parkway and City Hall Plaza. A stop sign is recommended on southbound William Dodson Parkway at City Hall Plaza to increase safety for pedestrian crossing and traffic calming.

In another area of the City, citizen complaints have also been received regarding two intersections. One is located at westbound Chatsworth Drive where it intersects with Mount Castle Drive. The other is located at westbound Colchester Drive where it intersects with Mount Castle Drive. These stop signs will increase the safety of traffic movements at these two intersections.

DISCUSSION:
City Administration and the Police Department, after assessment of the intersections, find it in the public's interest and safety to install stop signs at all three locations mentioned above. This will increase the safety of traffic movements at the above described intersections.

This item is consistent with Core Value No. 1 providing safety and security for citizens, visitors and businesses though progressive public safety programs.

RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends adopting Ordinance No. 3282 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 5, Section 82-73, specifying the placement of stop signs at southbound William Dodson Parkway at City Hall Plaza; westbound Colchester Drive at Mount Castle Drive and westbound Chatsworth Drive at Mount Castle Drive.
