Consider approving Resolution No. 2015-024 authorizing the City Manager to purchase replacement desktop and laptop computer systems and associated accessories in an amount not to exceed $65,000 from Dell Computer Corporation, utilizing the State of Texas Department of Information Resources contract pricing for automated information systems, and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The City replaces personal computers on a four year cycle (subject to funding availability), which is a benchmark that generally corresponds to the useful life of desktop computer systems.
DISCUSSION:
The Information Services FY 2014-2015 approved budget includes funding for the routine replacement of the City's desktop and laptop computer systems and associated accessories such as monitors, docking stations, carry cases, sound bars, keyboards, and computer mice.
The proposed total costs to fully replace each desktop system configuration is $952.38; laptop configurations are $1,248.77. However, system configurations procured from Dell Computer Corporation may vary dependent upon final user needs. A total of $65,000 is available for these purchases in the 2014-15 fiscal year budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended motion by City Administration to approve Resolution No. 2015-024 authorizing the City Manager to purchase replacement desktop and laptop computer systems and associated accessories in an amount not to exceed $65,000 from Dell Computer Corporation, utilizing the State of Texas Department of Information Resources contract pricing for automated information systems.
