Proclaim May as Bicycle Safety and Awareness Month.

BACKGROUND:
May is nationally recognized as National Bike Safety Month. The League of American Bicyclists have endorsed this event for each of the last 59 years. The bicycle is an economical, healthy, convenient, and environmentally sound form of transportation and an excellent form of recreation and enjoyment for the entire family.
The City's trail master plan process is underway and will guide the creation and enhancement of bicycling opportunities within Farmers Branch as well as enhancing connectivity with other cities. During the month of May, Parks and Recreation staff will be distributing information to promote bicycle safety and awareness.
A community meeting will be held on May 13, 2015 at 6.30 pm to gather citizen input on the trail master plan. The meeting will be held at the Community Recreation Center. All interested citizens are encourage to participate and be part of this exciting project.
