BACKGROUND:
Mosquito control activities are important to public health, and as a local government, the City of Farmers Branch is responsible for carrying out the program. For maximum effectiveness, residents must understand and support mosquito control. Thus, public education is an integral part of the any successful mosquito program. It is important that residents have a good understanding of mosquitoes, the benefits realized from their control, and the role the residents have in preventing certain mosquito-borne diseases. The presentation will cover the steps residents can take to minimize the potential for mosquito breeding in and around their homes, as well as the City's approach to reducing mosquito populations and thereby, the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.
