Title
Consider approving Resolution No. 2015-074 ratifying payments to Schneider Electric Company and other vendors for the repairs of the Wicker 2 Pump Station, resulting from fire related damages, and take appropriate action.

Body
BACKGROUND:
On May 1, 2015 a section of Wicker 2 Pump Station, located at 2412 Wicker Avenue, underwent an electrical fire within the southwest end of the building where the control panels existed. Damages to the interior of the building structure, equipment, and other major components were destroyed or damaged by smoke and soot from the fire. The fire required an emergency shutdown for repairs. Due to the complexity of the components and its condition after the fire, it was determined that it was in the best interest to hire qualified contractors to perform the repairs as quickly as possible.

The City had to immediately hire an electrical company, restoration company, the computer-based SCADA systems that enable the remote monitoring and automation of the pump station company and the security system company to the building and other equipment totaling $177,900 which was funded from the Capital Improvement Program Non-bond Utility Fund budget.

DISCUSSION:
City Administration solicited the contractors: Schneider Electric, Restoration Specialists, Prime Controls, and Knights Security Systems to make the emergency repairs to the Wicker Pump Station 2 fire. The contractors were available to immediately begin the work which included assessment of electrical damages, restoration of the building and equipment, and re-secure building.

After the initial assessment of the damage after partial restoration, additional electrical work was identified. The additional cost for Schneider Electric Company to complete the repairs for the Wicker 2 Pump Station Fire has been quoted in the amount of $221,876. Other electrical components will be evaluated after this equipment has been installed and power is re-established.
