Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3340 amending the number of members required for the Community Watch Committee and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Based on direction from City Council at their meeting held on August 4, 2015, the City Attorney has drafted an ordinance amending the number of members required for the Community Watch Committee.
DISCUSSION:
In 2007, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2915 which added 6 additional members to the Community Watch Committee, for a total of 15 members. Over time there has not been as many interested applicants apply to serve on the committee and, due to the number of vacancies, the committee has had difficulty establishing a quorum. Reducing the committee membership to 9 members should provide for a more manageable group.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended motion by City Administration to adopt Ordinance No. 3340 amending the number of members required for the Community Watch Committee.
