Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3350 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 6, Section 82-95, amending No Parking Zones on portions of Simonton Road; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
In June 2014 the property owners along the 4000 block of Simonton Road requested a no parking zone in front of their property due to commercial vehicles parking for extended periods of time blocking egress to parking lots. June 19, 2012 the City Council approved Ordinance No. 3192 prohibiting parking along the south side of Simonton Road from its radius return on Welch Road to 186 feet east.
DISCUSSION:
The initial property owners have purchased additional buildings east of the existing no parking zone and request that the no parking zone be extended an additional 289 feet east. City staff and the Police Department have determined that the commercial vehicles parked along the south side of Simonton Road continue to create a site visibly problem for vehicles entering and exiting the parking lot. In order to prevent blocking of egress to the properties, and in the interest and safety of movement of traffic along Simonton Road, City Administration recommends increasing the existing no parking zone to the east an additional 289 feet.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to adopt Ordinance No. 3350 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 6, Section 82-95, amending No Parking Zones on portions of Simonton Road.
2. I move to adopt Ordinance No. 3350 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 6, Section 82-95, amending No Parking Zones on portions of Simonton Road, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
