BACKGROUND:
The mission of the Walmart Foundation is to create opportunities so people can live better. The Walmart Foundation meets the needs of the under-served by directing charitable giving toward their core areas of focus: Opportunity, Sustainability and Community.
The Walmart Community Grant Program awards grants through Walmart stores, Sam's Clubs and Logistics facilities to eligible nonprofit organizations operating within the service area of the facility from which they are requesting funding.
Walmart considers it a responsibility to make a positive impact in the communities they serve, and it is with great honor that the Walmart Community Grant Program has awarded $10,000 to the Farmers Branch Firehouse Theatre.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends accepting the $10,000.00 donation from the Walmart Community Grant Program for the Farmers Branch Firehouse Theatre.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve the $10,000.00 donation from Walmart Community Grant Program to be used for the Farmers Branch Firehouse Theatre.
2. I move to approve the $10,000.00 donation from Walmart Community Grant Program to be used for the Farmers Branch Firehouse Theatre with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
