Consider Board and Commission appointments; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:

The City Secretary accepts applications throughout the year to fill vacant Board and Commission openings.  Once a background check has been completed, submitted applications are kept on file for one year.  As vacancies arise, City Council members may choose to make appointments to fill open positions(s).

 

DISCUSSION:

Currently, the Parks and Recreation Board has two (2) vacancies for Place 9, and Place 11, for unexpired terms ending in 6/30/18.

 

The City has received the following applications from citizens that wish to serve on the Parks and Recreation Board:

                     Connie Hardy (Currently serves on Historical Board, wishes to serve on Parks Board)

                     Stephen Allen Root

The following applications have been kept on file in the City Secretaries office, should a vacancy arise:

                     Wanda Barker

                     Alex Kaplinsky

                     Robert Schies

                     Shirley Shaffer

 

RECOMMENDATION:

City Administration recommends appointing two members to serve on the Parks and Recreation Board, in Place 9 and Place 11, for terms expiring June 30, 2018.

ACTION:

1.  Move to appoint the following Board Members to the Parks and Recreation Board:

_________ Place 9, for an unexpired term ending June 30, 2018 and;
