Consider accepting a donation from the Dallas Filipino Lions Club in the amount of $1,050 to the Parks and Recreation Department; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Dallas Filipino Lions Club approached the Parks and Recreation Department wanting to make a donation that would help raise awareness about their organization and increase their visibility in the community. The Dallas Filipino Lions Club is involved in many charitable projects in Farmers Branch, Carrollton and Dallas. They provide free vision screening to preschool children, provide food to local food banks and conduct environmental projects like cleaning up the banks of the Trinity River. Gloria Mathur, President of the Dallas Filipino Lions Club and her husband Vinod Mathur, the District Coordinator and a few other members of the club are here to present the check to the City.
DISCUSSION:
If accepted by City Council, the donation will be used to purchase and install a “City in a Park” bench with a bronze plaque in Oran Good Park adjacent to the playground.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends accepting the donation from the Dallas Filipino Lions Club in the amount of $1,050.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve a $1,050 donation from the Dallas Filipino Lions Club.
2. I move to approve a $1,050 donation from the Dallas Filipino Lions Club with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
