Title

Recognition of the Police Department for achieving Recognized Status through the Texas Police Chiefs Association.

Body

BACKGROUND:

In 2009 the Farmers Branch Police Department became the 13th police agency in the State of Texas to achieve “Recognized Status” by the Texas Police Chiefs Association. To become recognized, a police agency must submit themselves to a thorough review of policies, procedures, facilities, and personnel. Texas Police Chiefs Association has a list of 168 “best practices” that the agency must meet.

DISCUSSION:

In order to maintain “recognized status” the agency must repeat the entire process every four years. The Farmers Branch Police Department just completed a thorough review process and will again be named a “Recognized Police Department” by the Texas Police Chiefs Association.  Chief Marlin Price (Retired), representing the Texas Police Chiefs Association, will present the recognition certificate to the police department.
