Consider approving Resolution No. 2017-071 canvassing the election returns of the May 6, 2017 Election for Mayor at large and City Council District 2, including swearing in of duly elected City Council member; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Farmers Branch held a General Election on May 6, 2017 to elect a Mayor and one member to City Council District 2. The following actions will be taken to canvass and certify the results of the May 6, 2017 General Election:
District 2:
• The Mayor reads the canvass statement in Resolution No. 2017-071.
• The City Council approves Resolution No. 2017-071.
• The Oath of Office is administered to Bronson Blackson for District 2.
• The Certificate of Election is presented to Bronson Blackson for District 2.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2017-071 canvassing the election returns of the May 6, 2017 General Election and calling a runoff election on June 10, 2017, to be held in accordance with Ordinance No. 3417, for Office of Mayor.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to approve Resolution No. 2017-071, as presented.
2) Motion to deny Resolution No. 2017-071.
