Consider approving Resolution No. 2017-072 authorizing the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement for architectural services for phase one of the Service Center Project with Quorum Architects, Inc.; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The FY2016-17 budget includes funding in the Non-Bond Utilities CIP Fund for architectural design and construction plans for phase one of the new Service Center Project. In the last 4 years, a space needs assessment has been completed, as well as a preliminary site design and phasing for the Service Center Project. The next step in the project is the architectural design and construction plans development. This project supports the City of Farmers Branch Guiding Principles.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Farmers requested a proposal from Quorum Architects, Inc. for the design and construction plan development of phase one of the new Service Center Project. City staffed reviewed the proposal as to meeting the scope of project and desire to get Council approval to negotiate and execute the agreement.
Quorum Architects, Inc. was selected as qualified architectural company during the Space Needs and Building Assessment phase of this project and has also completed the preliminary site plan development. The information gathered by Quorum Architects will be used in the preparation of the final design and construction plans.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends to authorize negotiation and execution of this agreement with Quorum Architects, Inc. for professional architectural services associated with the design and construction plans for phase one of the new Service Center Project budgeted in the FY2016-17 Budget.
