Consider accepting a grant donation for $1,500 from Factory Mutual Insurance Company (FM Global) to the Farmers Branch Fire Department; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Farmers Branch Fire Department Prevention Division received from Factory Mutual Insurance Company (FM Global), a fire prevention grant in the amount of $1500.00. FM Global hopes the additional funding will strengthen fire prevention efforts to ultimately and more effectively prevent fire, the leading cause of property destruction worldwide.
During the past forty years, FM Global has awarded millions of dollars in funding to fire departments and related agencies worldwide. With a shared philosophy that the majority of property loss is preventable-not inevitable-we can make a difference in preventing the frequency and severity of fire together.
Farmers Branch Fire Department plans on purchasing a new Nikon D570 Digital single-lens reflex camera with accessories for fire prevention use to replace a 2005 Nikon camera.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends acceptance of the grant to purchase camera and accessories.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. Motion to accept the donation to the fire department from FM Global in the amount of $1500.00 for the purchase of a camera and accessories.
2. Motion to accept the donation to the fire department from FM Global in the amount of $1500.00 for the purchase of a camera and accessories, with modifications.
3. Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
