Discuss and Consider proposed amendments to the Home Rule Charter; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The City Council received a final report from the Charter Review Committee on December 12, 2017. In this report, the Charter Review Committee provided proposed amendments to the City Charter be placed before the qualified voters of the City at a future special election.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council will discuss and consider the Charter Review Committee’s proposed amendments to the Home Rule Charter and may wish to amend or add additional amendment items be placed on the ballot. In order to hold a Charter Election, the deadline to call the election is February 6, 2018.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends final review of the report provided by the Charter Review Committee, discuss its contents, amend as necessary, and provide direction to the City Manager, City Attorney, and City Secretary regarding the calling of a Special Election on May 5, 2018 to consider Charter amendments.
