BACKGROUND:
In 2002, Senate Bill 7 paved the way for the deregulation of the Texas electricity market. While the results of deregulation have increased the electric provider options for Texans, the electric market is complex and finding the most cost effective plan for an individual household is not an easy task. As a result, most Texans have not changed their utility provider in the last three years. iChoosr servers are used as an intermediary that bridges the gap between consumer choice in the electric market. This program meets the cities goal is to be an advocate for residents, and provides the ability to leverage an economy of scales through group purchasing power.
The Cities of Waco and Fate have already implemented the program and Dickinson is in the process of implementing the plan. Staff reached out to all three cities and they have all provided extremely positive feedback for the program and recommend moving forward with the program.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council will discuss the option to partner with iChoosr and participate in the Texas Power Switch program for the City of Farmers Branch.

1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-25, as presented.

3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
