Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-38 authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute on behalf of the City the Smart Cities Pilot Program between City of Farmers Branch and AT&T Mobility; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:

Building on the presentation to the City Council during the February 20th, 2018 Study Session, this item will provide an update on the Mayor’s Smart City Project and set the stage to authorize the City Manager to begin entering into contracts to move the project forward.

 

BUDGET:

Overall budget is not to exceed $65,000

$36,600 - CityIQ nodes

$5,000 - LED lights (estimated)

$15,000 - installation of nodes and lights (estimated)

$8,400 - contingency

 

 

DISCUSSION:

The Mayor will cover many facets of the program including:

Anticipated cost - well within budget tolerance

Project timeline - where we are now when the project will be live

Remaining steps that need to be taken

Provide greater clarification about the project and its impact to Farmers Branch

Update on the project’s budget
