Title

Presentation of a service award to Kerry Phillips for thirty (30) years of service to the City of Farmers Branch.

Body

BACKGROUND:

Kerry Phillips started work in the Parks and Recreation Department as a Temporary Laborer in May of 1988 and he was quickly promoted to a full time Labor 1 in June of that year.  Kerry worked hard and was promoted to an Equipment Operator 1 in October 1991. Kerry proved to be an efficient Operator 1 and was promoted to Equipment Operator 2 in October of 2001. In May of 2006 Kerry was promoted to a Park Maintenance Supervisor.

Kerry is very talented.  He is a skilled painter, welder and can do just about any type of construction.  Kerry has worked on numerous projects over the thirty years.  He and his crews replaced the asphalt sidewalk at Farmers Branch Park, built pavilions at Farmers Branch Park and at the Aquatic Center, he installed the landscape at Fire Station One, and he is a key player in constructing our annual haunted hedge at Halloween in the Park.  He is currently leading several renovation and maintenance projects at the Historical Park.  Kerry is a real asset to the City and its employees. His wide range of skill and willing attitude have been a big part of our success.

Kerry and his wife Wimberly just built a new home in Decatur where they enjoy spending time with their three children and extended family.  Kerry enjoys hunting, wood working and he has recently started training a new Labrador puppy.

Please join me in congratulating Kerry on his thirty years of service to the City of Farmers Branch.
