Discuss 2018 Christmas activities.

Staff has been working to firm up Christmas activities for the 2018 holiday season and needs direction from City Council. Based on Council input staff is proposing a lighted walking tour, Santa’s Village, and an outdoor ice rink rather than the traditional Tour of Lights.
The lighted walking tour would be from the east side of City Hall along the creek to the rose garden, The Grove, and possibly on to Liberty Plaza. There would be lit trees and displays along the way.
Santa’s Village would be in The Grove. Various trees would be lit and there would be various activities.
The outdoor ice rink would be in conjunction with the StarCenter and at this point is a work in progress. The intent is to have a rink adjacent to the StarCenter. Details are being worked out.
Staff needs direction on this concept in order to begin contracting for electrical installation and light installation. If the ice rink details are not firmed up soon then the ice rink would be an addition for 2019.
If Council would rather not change the concept for Christmas 2018 that direction is also needed now in order to set things in motion for the Tour of Lights to continue.
