Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-057 authorizing an agreement with O’Brien Engineering, Inc. for professional design services of the Cooks Creek Channel Improvements; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
In the fall of 2017 Staff received calls and inspected the channel walls along Cooks Creek between Valwood Parkway and Bee Street and found areas that need repairs or replacement. After thorough review Staff and the Municipal Drainage Utility System Advisory Committee members agreed to hire O’Brien Engineering, Inc. to perform design services for the Cooks Creek channel wall.
DISCUSSION:
An Engineering Services Agreement has been negotiated with O’Brien Engineering, Inc. for the professional engineering services related to the preparation of plans, and specifications for the above-mentioned Cooks Creek Channel Improvements in an amount of $97,800.00. Completion of plans will take approximately 90 calendar days.
O’Brien Engineering, Inc. was selected based on their experiences on similar creek issues regarding storm water within the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2018-057 authorizing an agreement with O’Brien Engineering, Inc. for Professional Engineering Services for the Cooks Creek Channel Improvements project in the amount of $97,800.
