Discuss the Planning and Zoning Commission’s meeting schedule for June through August, 2018.

BACKGROUND:
At the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on May 21, 2018, the Commission requested staff to review the Commission’s 2018 summer meeting schedule and pending cases, and find opportunities for consolidation in order to make more effective use of the meetings. Additionally, the Commission expressed interest in possibly having a reduced meeting schedule during the upcoming summer months, if appropriate.
The Commission’s meeting schedule is typically established at the end of the preceding calendar year, in order to publish the zoning and development application submission schedule for the development community; this submission schedule is based on the Commission’s, as well as City Council’s meeting schedule.
It is appropriate from time to time to evaluate the Commission’s meeting schedule if there are opportunities for meeting consolidation. The Commission should take into consideration if there are zoning and development cases currently pending for meeting dates. Additionally, the Code of Ordinances stipulates that the Commission shall hold regular meetings at least once in each month.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Planning and Zoning Commission provide direction regarding their meeting schedule for June through August, 2018.
