BACKGROUND:
City Council conducts annual Board and Commission appointments to fill term vacancies. The City advertised throughout the community and held a Board and Commissions Recruitment event in conjunction with the Farmers Branch Night Out event on April 5, 2018. The City Secretary received a total of 89 applications for the 49 board vacancies. The City Council interviewed applicants at a Special Called meeting held on May 23, 2018 and created a slate list.
DISCUSSION:
The Library Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Building Code Board of Appeals, Parks and Recreation Board, Historical Preservation and Restoration Board, Senior Advisory Board, Sustainability Committee, Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, Municipal Drainage Board, each have vacancies occurring this June 30, 2018. Additionally, the City Council will appoint members to the new Public Art & Culture Committee. City Council has interviewed, reviewed applications and created a slate list to fill vacancies.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends City Council approve the slate list to appoint members to fill board vacancies.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to adopt the attached slate list, as presented.
2) Motion to amend the slate list and approve, as amended.
3) Motion to seek more applicants.
